TREKKING IN SONMARG (Walk with the Clouds) (10 Nights / 11 Days)


Day 1: Arriver Srinagar

Arrival Srinagar and Met Travel Excellence representative will assist you and transfer to Houseboat, Late afternoon Shikara boat cruising to the backwaters of Dal lake (2 hrs). O\n Houseboat.

Day 2: In Srinagar

After Breakfast Srinagar, Morning sightseeing of the Mughal gardens, visiting Nishat Bagh built by Asaf Khan, the brother -in- law of Mughal Emperor Jehangir in 1632 A.D., and Shalimar Bagh built by Jehangir for his wife empress Nur Jahan. All the gardens are situated on the banks of the Dal Lake with the Zabarwan hills in the background . Late Afternoon visit Shankaracharya temple dedicated to lord Shiva perched on the hilltop with lovely views of the valley & old city. O\n Houseboat.

Day 3: Srinagar - Sonamarg (2720 m)

After Breakfast, Full day excursion about 87 kms / 3 ½ to Sonamarg (the meadow of gold). The route goes through the villages of Ganderbal, Gund and Kalan en route to Sonamarg which is the last village in the Kashmir valley on the way to Ladakh. Sonamarg lies in Sindh Valley strewn with flowers and surrounded by mountains. Sonamarg is also the base for some interesting treks to high altitude Himalayan lakes. O\ n Tents.

Day 4: Sonamarg - Nichinai (3620 m)

After Breakfast, Half a kilometre past the Shitkari bridge the trail leaves the bank of the Sindh and climbs up the left side of the mountain. Nichinai is at 3620 meters, 910 meters above Sonamarg and on 15 kms distance from Sonamarg. Wood and water are on hand in the camp. O\n tents.

Day 5: Nichinai-Vishansar (3680 m)-Krishansar (3819 m)

After Breakfast, The 13 km trek starts by crossing the 4080 meters Nichinai chain then follows the river before crossing it at Hirampathri. Enroute you pass by Vishansar at 3680 meters and reach the camp at Krishansar at 3819 meters. There is a good site for camping with water available and trout fishing possibilities but the only wood is that sold by nomads at rather high prices. O\n tents.

Day 6: Krishansar - Dubta Pani

After Breakfast, Cross the Razbal Gali at 4191 meters and follow the right bank of the river. The route descends to the Gadsar Lake at 3680 meters and crosses the river at Gadsar Maidan. There is no wood at Dubta Pani, there is possibilities to collect fuel on the final ascent to the camp at 3280 meters. O\n tents.

Day 7: Dubta Pani - Gangabal Lake (3570 m)

After Breakfast, The day's 17 km trek starts with an ascent to the Satsaran Gali pass at 3680 meters, it's only open from June to October. You have a fine view of the Satsar Lake at 3600 meters. The climb then follows to the 4081 metres Zajibal Gali pass, also open only from June to October. From here there is fine view of the Nund Kol Lake (3501 m). The camp site at Gangabal Lake (3570 m) has wood, water and trout fishing. The Lake, at the foot of Harmukh, is the site for a major pilgrimage each August. O\n tents.

Day 8: Gangabal Lake

After Breakfast, Enjoy the day with trout fishing . Visiting the Nomads with their floks of sheep & goats. O\n tents.

Day 9: Gangabal Lake - Wangat (2050 m)

After Breakfast, The 19 km trek descends 1500 metres to wangat at 2050 meters. About five kilometres from Wangat there are the interesting ruins of two old temples. O\n tents.

Day 10: Wangat - Srinagar

After Breakfast, Transfer to houseboats. After noon free for personal activities. Over night stay in house boat.

Day 11: Depart Srinagar

After breakfast, Transfer to airport for onward flight to onward destination

TREKKING IN PAHALGAM (8 Nights / 9 Days)


Day 01: Arrive Srinagar

Day 02: In Srinagar

Day 03: Srinagar - Pahalgam - Aru

After Breakfast, we drive out of Srinagar to commence our trek. Situated 2130m up at the confluence of the streams flowing from Sheshnag Lake and the Lidder River, Pahalgam was once a humble shepherd's village with breathtaking views. Now it is Kashmir's premier resort, deliciously cool even in the height of summer, and a wonderful day is spent exploring the natural pine forests and enjoying nature's splendour. We trek steadily along the river to the pretty log-hut village of Aru, 11 kms from Pahalgam. At Aru, the camp is already set up for you beside the Lidder River. We eat a delicious dinner round the fire and rest. O/N Tents.

Day 04: Aru - Lidder Watt

After Breakfast, we trek 11 kms through the lush Lidder Valley to Lidder Watt, where our reward is overnight at the beautiful Lidder Watt campsite, situated by a stream that runs straight from the glacier into the Tarsar Lake . O/N tents.

Day 05: Lidder Watt - Kolahoi

After Breakfast, short trek takes us to the base of the Kolahoi Glacier at the head of the Lidder Valley, where our surroundings become noticeably more alpine and dry. The glacier, climbing from 3400m up to 4000m, descends from twin peaks at 5433m that tower majestically overhead, and is a truly magnificent sight. We head back to Lidder Watt for campfire meal and rest. O/N Tents.

Day 06: Lidder Watt - Tarsar - Sindh Valley

After Breakfast, today is another momentous day, as we set off over the Simmus Pass at 2500m, offering superb views of the mountain landscape on all sides of us. We then descend steadily on an easy path into the Sindh Valley, watching as the scenery becomes increasingly green and lush once more. We settle into our camp set up in the near side of the Sindh Valley . O/N Tents.

Day 07: Sindh Valley - Sumbal

After Breakfast, pleasant day's walking as we descend further into the beautiful Sindh Valley, enjoying the shady forests groves and gushing brooks that feed this lush landscape of flowers and trees. We arrive at Sumbal, a small village in this stunning land, with the mountain peaks still visible on the horizon. Here we rest and enjoy our last night of the trek. O/N Tents.

Day 08: Sumbal - Srinagar

We transfer by road to Srinagar, and settle into your houseboat accommodation on arrival to rest and reflect on our expedition.

Day 09: Depart Srinagar

Transfer to airport for onward flight to on ward destination
